ICARLY, one of the most popular children's TV shows in the 2010's came back to our screens in 2021 for a massive reboot, pleasing fans of the show.
But after three new seasons, Miranda Cosgroves' adult version of Carly Shay and her crew of unpredictable friends, family and enemies were canceled by Paramount+and sent packing from our screens again.
Why was the iCarly reboot canceled?
An actual reason hasn't been given yet by the production team or Paramount+ but many fans have been left upset by the decision.
The reboot, which follows the original crew minus Carly's best friend Sam, is set nine years after the final episode back in 2012.
Despite being seen as an worldwide success, with an average of 82 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes across the three new seasons, the show was canceled this year.
A spokesperson for the show said: "The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together.
"We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers, along with the whole crew, for their dedication, creativity and talent."
Has the cast of iCarly spoken out about the cancelation?
In October 2023, Laci Mosley, an actress in the reboot, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to first break the news of the cancelation.
A fan tweeted: "My expression knowing @paramountplus hasn’t renewed #iCarly yet," alongside a photo of Miranda Cosgrove and Nathan Kress looking shocked.
Laci quoted the tweet, replying: "It's cancelled babes."
Nathan Kress who plays camera man Freddie commented on the shock cancelation saying: "Freddie is forever in my heart, and I'm honored that I was able to put that mantle back on, even for just a few more years.
"Obviously this stings a bit..
"We had a lot of story left to tell, and we were excited to give you guys the ending you deserved.
"No one wanted this to end on a cliffhanger"
Jennette McCurdy, who played fan favourite Sam Puckett refused to be apart of the reboot even after Cosgrove personally asked her.
In her new book, I'm Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy said that if she returned to the show that she doesn't have good memories of, her mental health could spiral down and ruin her now happy life.
She wrote: "There are things more important than money and my mental health and happiness fall under that category."
When was iCarly first on TV?
The popular teenage TV show first aired in 2007 and lasted until 2012.
iCarly was then canceled because Miranda Cosgrove went to college in real life.
She attended the University of Southern California and reportedly didn't want to mix acting with school.
Cosgrove told Parade in 2012: "I went right into college after we shot the show so that’s been keeping me busy."
She added: "I feel like I've been doing TV shows most of my life ... so I'll still read scripts and audition but for now I'm focusing on college."
